The Baldwin School seeks applicants for the position of Grade 5 Teacher with a primary responsibility on Humanities (English Language Arts/Social Studies) instruction and grade level classroom duties. All Baldwin teachers participate in the life of the School and support the School’s mission. Responsibilities

• Develop a warm, inclusive and supportive classroom culture where children have high expectations for themselves and for others, are self-motivated and self-directed, and value and love learning.
• Collaborate with grade level partner to provide a cohesive learning environment for all students.
• Design and implement student-centered, inquiry-based units to explore our world and its past and present cultures and civilizations, and use these explorations to further critical thinking and real-world problem solving while developing reading, writing, and literacy skills.
• Guide students through a multi-step writing process from ideas to revision in a variety of formats (expository, thesis driven, literary analysis, creative).
• Guide students through the research process using a variety of resources, including books, interviews, primary sources, and online resources.
• Differentiate whole group, small group and individual instruction and materials to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of learners in the classroom.
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly; provide students with regular and timely feedback about their progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning curricular experiences.
• Maintain an ongoing dialogue with parents about student progress, including emails, phone calls, report writing and in-person conferences.
• Create and regularly update a digital classroom page, using our learning management system (LMS), as a primary means of communicating classroom activities to families.
• Maintain strong communication with colleagues, families, and administration.
