Summit School teachers are responsible creating an innovative and active learning environment, designing instructional units incorporating 21st century learning strategies, personalizing the curriculum to meet the needs of the students, integrating technology into the classrooms; and partnering with administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents. Summit School views teaching as both a science and an art, and empowers teachers to meet high expectations using their expertise and experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
This position teaches Summit Middle School students (6th-8th Grades). The specific teaching assignment will ultimately depend on various factors. It requires following the Summit philosophy of learning and development, which includes established teaching best practices and in addition:
Implementing 21st century teaching and learning, including integration of learning technology, inquiry and project based learning
Maintaining positive, professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, including exceptional communication skills
Plan and hands-on learning experiences that ignite every student’s desire to learn
Differentiate instruction to ensure that a range of student learning needs are met
Collaborate with colleagues on multidisciplinary projects
Implement and model Summit’s character education and social-emotional learning curricula
Participate in student recruitment and retention events
Maintain a commitment to continuous professional learning and growth
Maintain expertise in subject area(s) taught
Model excellent teaching practices to all stakeholders, and the qualities we expect in our students: diligence, creativity, collaboration, kindness, generosity, and integrity
The Ideal Candidate:
Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, subject area or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
Holds Arizona Teacher Certificate
2-5 years teaching experience required
Holds current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Holds current First Aid/CPR certification
Additional Salary Information: Compensation:
Dependent on training and experience, comparable to upper end of Arizona public school salary scales. Summit School offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and long and short term disability for the individual employee.
