The Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School is a center dedicated to exploring and illuminating the intersection of press, politics and public policy in theory and practice. About Technology Science The Technology Science Initiative at Harvard includes research, a publication, and courses. Technology Science is the scientific study of technology's relationship to humankind. It is the study of naturally occurring phenomena between uses of technologies and businesses, individuals, organizations, and societies. Studying technology science is critical to navigating a future with fewer disruptions to technology investments, better informed policy decisions, and less unwanted erosion of societal norms.
Reporting to Dr. Latanya Sweeney, the RA will provide comprehensive research work for the Data Privacy Lab, as well as plays a large role in analyzing and making research related recommendations for paper submissions to an online publication created by Professor Sweeney' duties and responsibilities:
Develops, designs, conducts and analyzes original research supporting Professor Latanya Sweeney and the Data Privacy Lab. Drafts results.
Conducts scientific analysis of experimental results through submitted papers for publication designed to research problems or understand trends, characteristics and tendencies. Reviews the research paper submissions and makes suggestions to authors about improvements and offers editorial review of content regarding the nature of how the research is presented.
Formats and standardizes content of research paper submissions and images to meet publication guidelines and to publish them online. Moderates comments submitted in response to online papers. Maintains howto guides and overview specifications on administrative wiki.
Tracks paper submissions from original receipt through online publication, coordinating with editors and authors as needed, and maintaining revision history logs
Coordinates public media and social media communications about the journal and its papers and proofreads
This is a one year term appointment, with the possibility of renewal.

Bachelor's degree required and 3+ years' experience developing, designing and conducting original research and drafting results. Computer literacy (including Microsoft Word and Excel) and computer research skills are vital. HTML, PHP and R required.
Prior research experience in an academic setting strongly preferred. Working knowledge of statistics.
Position requires an excellent command of online research skills and strong writing and editing skills. Candidates must possess strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
Position requires knowledge of scientific methods, demonstrated knowledge of research techniques, and knowledge of various research methods.
Must be well organized, detail oriented, articulate and flexible.
The position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to interact well with faculty, staff, students and research partners.
An interest in real world problems and doing research with real world data and online sources.
