The Blake School seeks to hire a full-time social studies teacher capable of teaching a broad range of history and social science courses in our Upper School for the 2021-22 school year. A full course load consists of four classes each semester, comprising one to three different course curricula, depending on department need. The successful candidate will provide a rigorous and supportive classroom environment, demonstrate strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate commitment to increasing student engagement and participation in discussion-based courses using inquiry approaches to history and the social sciences. Upper School faculty regularly engage with the broader community experience by serving as an advisor, chaperoning student events, and participating in department and school meetings, committees and events. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experiences and thinking that makes our community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.
