Responsibilities: The successful candidate is a master educator with a passion for teaching history and social studies and a special interest and proficiency in Economics (especially AP-level courses in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics) and World History. The teacher’s lessons are student-centered and infused with both theory and practice, and they skillfully incorporate technology and creativity. Other responsibilities and competencies include:
Teaching five classes, including multiple sections of Economics and/or AP Microeconomics/AP Macroeconomics as well as World History or other core courses/electives
Designing classes that focus on both the fundamentals of course material and authentic applications of lessons in support of the Ravenscroft mission to “nurture individual potential and prepare students to thrive in a complex and interdependent world”
Exhibiting superior teaching skills that demonstrate best practices, including inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, and facilitation
Promoting a school culture that values and supports a diverse, inclusive, supportive, and ethical school culture
Advising approximately 12 students and facilitating the integration of Ravenscroft’s “Lead from Here” curriculum
Demonstrating effective technology skills, including the ability to use Ravenscroft’s learning management systems (Canvas and Veracross)
Contributing to student success and institutional strength by serving on committees, leading an active student club, and/or coaching a sport (a willingness to coach is strongly preferred)
Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback, adapt to different learners’ needs, and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive department
Bachelor’s degree in History/Social Studies or History/Social Studies Education, MA in History/Social Studies or MEd/MAT in History/Social Studies highly desirable; experience teaching World History or other social studies courses preferred.
