The Management, Information Systems, and Quantitative Methods (MISQ) Department of the Collat School of Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty member in Information Systems to begin Fall 2022. Applicants at the assistant and associate level will be considered, although rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
The Information Systems (IS) group within the department has a variety of research interests, including: social media, cybersecurity and privacy, open innovation, online communities, entrepreneurship, mobile devices, and informatics. While high quality peer-reviewed research is emphasized, the university administration is also supportive of other research activities and cross-disciplinary collaborations across the university and with the business community.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Information Systems or closely-related discipline from an accredited AACSB program, and demonstrate an ability to maintain a strong record of research and scholarly activities. Applicants that have yet to earn their doctorate will be considered but must have successfully defended their dissertation prior to beginning employment and demonstrate a strong pipeline for research and scholarship. Candidates must have an interest in delivering classes over a variety of formats, including online and face-to-face.
Applicants with teaching experience in programming (e.g. Python), data management (e.g. database/SQL, ETL and data analytics), cybersecurity, and IT & Business Strategy are preferred, but teaching areas and interests are flexible. Applicants with work experience or industry certifications that align with their teaching interests are preferred. Applicants with demonstrated or potential ability to publish in elite IS journals are encouraged to apply. Interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged by the department.
