About the Opportunity:
The Department of Art + Design in the College of Arts, Media, and Design invites applications for (2) Full Time non-Tenure Track (NTT) Teaching Professors (Open Rank) in the expanded field of Visual Studies to begin fall 2022. We seek to hire interdisciplinary teacher-scholars who advance intersectional approaches to analyzing visual culture. Candidates should be able to develop and teach courses with a global orientation that compliment existing Art+Design concentrations in media arts, interaction design, graphic and information design. Teaching responsibilities will include 3 undergraduate and / or graduate courses per semester as well as the opportunity to propose topic-specific upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses.

Responsibilities:
The teaching load is 3 classes per semester.

Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Art History, Visual Studies, Performance Studies, History and/or Theory of Design or related fields by appointment start date. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a record of innovative pedagogy and relevant teaching expertise. All faculty are expected to maintain a robust professional practice / scholarly profile and possess a strong commitment to teaching critical thinking skills to Art+Design majors.

This teaching position entails working with faculty across the College of Arts, Media and Design and Northeastern University. Additionally, NTT faculty are eligible to receive funding for faculty development. Appointment within the Department of Art + Design locates you within a major urban private research university and a leader in experiential learning, global engagement and advanced research. The College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) is a collaborative, diverse community, acting as a catalyst for research, inspiration, and discovery across the University. It brings together a unique combination of disciplines, including Architecture, Art + Design, Communication Studies, Journalism, Media and Screen Studies, Music, and Theatre, and is home to three interdisciplinary research centers: the Center for the Arts, the Center for Design, and the Center for Communication, Media Innovation, and Social Change.
