Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.

The Division of Fine Arts and Communication Studies at the University of South Carolina Upstate seeks an Assistant Professor of Theatre, Theatre Design, or Theatre Production. The USC Upstate Theatre Program is internationally recognized and actively involved with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. The successful candidate will join a supportive and collegial faculty who serve a diverse student population and approximately 30 theatre majors. USC Upstate has state-of-the-art facilities consisting of a 440-seat mainstage theatre and a blackbox studio theatre. The program has a fully funded summer study abroad program in the United Kingdom where students design and perform a production for the FUSE Festival.
Responsibilities include teaching design courses for Stagecraft and Lighting for theatre, Introduction to Theatre, Theatre Laboratory for production, mentoring student Stage Managers, supervising technical directors and production students, and designing sets and/or lights for mainstage productions. Other duties include faculty committee work, scholarly and creative activities, recruiting prospective students, academic advising and mentoring, and assisting in various ways with other productions and events on the mainstage and studio theatres.
