Job Summary:
Full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Social Work with primary assignment to the BSW program (51% minimum). Position responsibilities include teaching, academic advising and institutional service. May also carry teaching assignments in the MSW program and/ or CAPS BSW program.
Responsibilities:
Teach up to seven courses or the equivalent, as needed by the department. (Standard full load consists of seven courses or the equivalent.) Primary responsibilities include teaching assigned courses following CSWE accreditation requirements. Courses may include introductory and advanced social work courses, field seminar courses, and social work practice courses.
Skills:
The preferred candidate must demonstrate potential for effective teaching of generalist and specialized social work practice as well as adherence to CSWE accreditation standards and NASW Code of Ethics. In order to engage with the department in the process of continuous improvement, the candidate will demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively, think creatively, and work effectively under pressure. The candidate will demonstrate knowledge of and a commitment to social justice activities, research, and professional practice with individuals, families, groups, communities and organizations. Successful candidate will reflect a strong commitment to the educational mission, to the institution's faith-based mission and values, to growing diversity on campus as well as a strong emphasis on human rights and the advancement of social, economic and environmental justice. Preference will be given for demonstrated competency in delivering hybrid learning pedagogy.
Experience:
Strong professional knowledge and experience in diverse social work practice settings, experience teaching in social work higher education strongly preferred. Demonstrated competence in generalist social work practice; ability to teach and work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds; demonstrated commitment to improving levels of access and success for underrepresented students in higher education; demonstrated ability to model social work professional values and ethics and to work effectively with colleagues. Two years post MSW experience in the professional field required. A strong professional network in the field or social work preferred.
Doctoral degree in social work or related field preferred. Master of Social Work with two years of post-M.S.W. professional practice experience required. Candidates must be a licensed social worker (LICSW, LISW or LCSW) or eligible for licensure through the Minnesota Board of Social Work.
