Position Summary:
The Social Science-Humanities Department at STLCC-Forest Park is seeking a full time History Faculty member to begin August 2022. Preference will be given to candidates with community college experience teaching African-American History, American History survey courses, and African History. The new History faculty member will be expected to teach, mentor students, fulfill some administrative duties within the Social Science-Humanities Department, and serve on campus committees. The successful candidate will demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom to improve student learning outcomes and a commitment to classroom assessment. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the use of varied teaching techniques that help students develop critical thinking and research skills and understand the relevance of history to their lives.
Primary Duties Performed:
Instructors are responsible for instruction, grading, record-keeping, and compliance with legal and institutional obligations. Instructors should expect to meet all deadlines and to regularly use standard software, including the Microsoft Office suite, as appropriate. Instructors must conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. |
Required Qualifications: Requires a Master’s degree in History or African American Studies, with at least 18 approved graduate hours in American History. |
Preferred Qualifications: • Prefer Ph.D. in History or African American Studies, with a focus in African American History. |
