Easterns 300-acre main campus is located in Cheney, a community of 11,000 residents 16 miles southwest of the states second largest city, Spokane. Eastern also offers programs in downtown Spokane at the Brand new Catalyst building and on the Riverpoint Campus which is shared with Washington State University. Eastern also offers program throughout the state based on the needs of the community. Eastern offers an array of bachelors and masters degrees and one applied doctorate in physical therapy. EWU offers 135 fields of study, 9 masters degrees, 12 graduate certificates, 39 graduate programs, 1 educational specialist degree, and 1 applied doctorate to more than 10,000 enrolled students.

Job Summary:
Part-time Education Field Experience Supervisors are hired to fulfill responsibilities which will be specified in their letter of appointment.

The individual(s) selected for this position will:

The Education Program is seeking a colleague with a strong commitment to students, collegiality, and outside partnerships. The person hired for this position will be welcomed into an academic community dedicated to cultural diversity, community engagement, and social justice.

Evaluate and mentor Education candidates in the field using criteria based on best practices

Provide oral and written feedback to Education candidates.

Support Education candidates in providing instruction that aligns with state standards and meets students' needs.

Maintain regular and effective communication with colleagues, candidates, administrations, and participating teachers.

Must have reliable transportation. Travel will be within a 60-mile radius.

Serve as an ambassador from EWU to school partners.


Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise is required for teaching in the discipline associated with appointment as a quarterly faculty member; expertise is normally demonstrated by one or more of the following:

• Masters (or higher) in Education or commensurate experience
• At least 3 years teaching experience in K - 12 Education or extensive experience in K - 12 Education.
• Availability to observe candidates during typical school hours and beyond (when necessary).
• Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:
A current certification

Job Duties:
% of Time: 100
Responsibility / Duty: Teaching workload for individuals appointed to a quarterly faculty position will be specified in their individual letter of appointment.

Teaching includes the following additional related responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA:
Meet all scheduled classes
Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
Schedule and attend office hours
Turn in grades according to established deadlines

Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.

Conditions of Employment:
Appointment is as specified in the letter of appointment. Appointment as a Part-time Education Field Experience Supervisor does not confer any right to subsequent appointment for additional quarters or semesters.

To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than the date specified in the letter of appointment.

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

All new employees must comply with EWU immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR and proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.


Salary Information: Quarterly Faculty will be compensated at the rate of at least seven hundred and one dollars ($701) per credit. The number of credits can vary but is calculated at 8 observations per credit.
