The Department of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature is inviting applications for part-time, temporary teaching positions for openings that may occur beginning Fall 2022 through Summer 2023 to teach courses that cannot be staffed by regular faculty or graduate students. Appointments may be renewable in following years based upon need, funding and performance. Position title and salary vary according to qualifications and funding.
Current available courses for Fall 2022 are CSCL 1401W Reading Literature, CSCL 3212W Documentary Cinema, and CSCL 3220W Screen Cultures.
Current available courses for Spring 2023 are CSCL 1401W Reading Literature, CSCL 3122 Movements and Manifestos, and CSCL 3220W Screen Cultures.
Duties: Teaching undergraduate students in assigned course(s). Holding office hours to assist and advise students. Participate in department meetings and service to the department.
Required: M.A. (or foreign M.A. equivalent) in a relevant discipline, and at least one year of post baccalaureate teaching experience in the humanities, social sciences, or related fields. Detailed and extensive knowledge of history, theory, and social context of the fields to be taught, and familiarity with Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature curricula.
Preferred: Ph.D. or MFA and two years’ teaching experience at the collegiate level in relevant disciplinary fields with documented evidence of teaching excellence.
Applicants with an M.A. will be appointed at the rank of Teaching Specialist. Those with a Ph.D. or terminal degree will be appointed at the rank of Lecturer.
