General Statement of Duties
Mount Wachusett Community College seeks an educator who believes that engaging and authentic teaching matters more than anything else in the pursuit of student success. This educator designs an innovative classroom culture that embraces diversity and fosters student empowerment. Building positive connections, the faculty member will create a sense of belonging that motivates students and strengthens their desire to learn.
The Psychology/Human Services faculty member will teach psychology/human services courses and substance abuse counseling courses. These course assignments will be based on faculty expertise and departmental needs and may include but not be limited to Introduction to Psychology, Human Growth and Development, Introduction to Sociology and Issues of Chemical Dependency in Family Systems. The faculty may teach Psychology course sections for dual enrollment and/or early college students. The faculty should be committed to using active learning strategies and student engagement. The faculty member will possess excellent writing and communication skills, academic credentials and technological proficiency. A background in counseling, social work and/or human services is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides classroom instruction in Psychology/Human Services;
- Serves on college committees as elected or appointed;
- Attends regularly scheduled departmental, divisional and college meetings;
- Teaches courses as assigned by the Dean;
- Participates in academic advisement for approximately 18 students;
- Maintains office hours;
- Participates in college service activities (i.e., college committees, meetings, activities, etc.); Maintains disciplinary expertise; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in psychology, counseling, social work or other related field
- Three years of teaching experience at the college level;
- Knowledge of educational methods; and
- Proficiency in oral and written communication.

Additional Information:
Salary: $44,168.00-$91,561.00**
**Actual Salary will be determined in accordance with the classification system of MCCC/MTA commensurate with education & experience.
