Position Description: Plymouth Meeting Friends School seeks an experienced teacher to work in the capacity of Interim 5th/6th Grade Lead Teacher for the 2022-23 academic year. The “vertical” grouping of the oldest students at PMFS provides opportunities for growth through a rich academic and social emotional curriculum. A focus on building collaboration, cooperation and advocacy skills contributes to students’ academic and social success.
The Interim Lead Teacher works directly with students to deliver a highly interactive academic program. Responsibilities include planning and implementing an active, integrated curriculum, and collaborating with the 5th/6th Assistant Teacher and PMFS colleagues in a creative, dynamic, values-based learning community. The Interim 5th/6th Lead Teacher plans, supports and engages in the creation and delivery of instruction in the core academic curriculum: Mathematics, Social Studies, Geography, Language Arts (Listening and Speaking, Reading, Writing, Spelling & Grammar). PMFS 5th/6th graders hone their research and presentation skills through experiential and project-based learning.
The 5th/6th Grade students participate in The PMFS Mexican Exchange Program with the Williams School in Cuernavaca, Mexico. If the Exchange is reinstated in 2022-23, the Interim Lead Teacher would participate in that program, both at PMFS and in Cuernavaca, MX.
