Basic Functions:
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in organizing, preparing and conducting practices, competitions, and player meetings;
- Recruit student-athletes in accordance with all Denison University, North Coast Athletic Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Evaluate junior golfers for potential fit for programs,
- Assist with the holistic development of golf student-athletes,
- Represent the program and the college to students, parents, alumni, and the general public;
- Assist in managing the daily operations and administration facets of the golf programs – including but not limited to – office administration and organization, equipment and apparel management, hosting of home tournaments, social media, and marketing of both programs for recruiting purposes.
- Actively participate in department-wide fundraising initiatives.
- Assist in all duties as assigned by the Head Coach or the Director of Athletics.
- Assist with all team camps and clinics.
- Monitor academic progress of student athletes.
- Assume proxy head coaching activities should simultaneous travel dates arise with different locations. Assistant Coach will maintain constant communication with, and continue reporting to the head coach during this time.
- Secondary duties as assigned, may include:
- Teaching an activities course
- Assisting in game management duties
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport of golf and its playing rules, measured by Collegiate playing experience.
- A commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy of athletics, sufficient knowledge of NCAA and NCAC rules and regulations, measured by taking a NCAA rules test.
- A demonstrated ability to successfully recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes, measured by previous experience.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the year.
- Must have a current, valid driver's license and must be insurable under Denison's liability insurance policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous collegiate coaching experience.
- Knowledge of travel, lodging, planning, and scheduling.
- Good problem solving, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and/or experience in a residential, liberal arts college environment.
- Demonstrable experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Ability to foster a team environment.
- Ability, and desire, to work successfully within a team oriented athletic department.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Pay/Salary: Starting at 35,000.00
