Description:
This is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track lecturer position in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JOMC). Lecturers teach four courses per semester in Multimedia Journalism, Mass Media Production or Public Relations. Classes will be assigned as needed by the Department Chair. Additional duties assigned by the Department Chair may include, but are not limited to, student academic advising and career mentoring, serving on departmental/college and university committees, and engaging in research and/or creative works. This position is expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff within the Department, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and University.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The department is housed within the University's College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. About 500 of the College's students are majors in the Journalism and Mass Communication Department, which plans to establish a graduate program. The department is accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC). The mission of the Department is to prepare students with the high-quality education necessary to succeed as professionals and critical thinkers and to become productive citizens of their communities, the nation, and the world.
The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) enrolls more than 1,950 students and has more than 130 faculty members. CAHSS houses the Departments of Criminal Justice, English, History & Political Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Liberal Studies, and Visual and Performing Arts. The CAHSS Dean's Office has administrative oversight/responsibility for the six academic units and affiliated programs of the College, as well as for its faculty & staff.
With an award-winning faculty, intensive research programs, and community-focused initiatives, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is the nation's largest historically black university with an enrollment of more than 12,500 students. NC A&T is an 1890 land-grant, doctoral higher research institution and one of 17 constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina System.

Requirements:
Master's degree with professional experience in media-related platforms, proven ability to produce multimedia content on multiple platforms, ranging from print media and television to radio, film and Social Media.
Preferred:
At least five years of teaching and professional experience is preferred with proven skills in producing multimedia content across various media platforms.
