Ross School's Visual Arts Department seeks a dynamic and collaborative teacher for a full-time position beginning in late August 2022. Based on the pedagogy of Ross School Spiral Curriculum and Learning System, the objectives of teaching at Ross School include tailoring each student's program to their individual needs, interests, and abilities; promoting independence and dependability; and enhancing students' social skills and sense of responsibility towards others.
We are looking for candidates with visual arts experience in 2D and 3D media, with a specialization in middle school and high school art. Here at Ross, teachers work with a wide range of media and studio spaces across an open campus, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, metalworking, woodworking, fashion design, drawing, and architecture. Many of our faculty are practicing artists, and this position supports independent practice in addition to teaching. The curriculum welcomes new ideas, electives, and opportunities. The ideal candidate will be excited to innovate and learn alongside our students. It is essential for applicants to be committed to engaging in pedagogical and curricular issues in support of our anti-racist and inclusive community.
