Departmental Overview
Residential and Student Service Programs (RSSP) is a complex 'cluster' of departments with an aggregated operating budget of approximately $125 million, a head count of over 2,000 employees in over 150 buildings (2.7 million square feet) that provide a variety of services to faculty, staff, students and the surrounding campus community. These services include an orientation and transition programs for incoming students, an inclusive community that fosters academic success and personal growth for our residents, single student and family housing for 7,500 students and (in some cases) their families, dining options for the campus and community, an early childhood education program, and conference operations during the summer.

Responsibilities
- Facilitates in providing activities to program participants and visitors, individually or in groups.
- This includes daily standard operations, duties and administration.
- Maintains a supportive environment for program participants and facilitate involvement.
- Interacts with recreational program participants in a positive manner.
- Develops knowledge of communication methods, techniques and skills through continuing education.
- Assists in activity facilitation to program participants, individually or in groups.
- Maintains a supportive environment for program participants and facilitates involvement.
- Interacts with recreational program participants in a positive manner.
- Develops knowledge of teaching methods, techniques and skills through continuing education.
- Participates in required professional development activities.
- Areas may include: art, drama, music, gymnastics, science, sports, language arts, dance, aerial arts, circus arts, gardening/cooking.
- IIPP Statement: Works in a safe and responsible manner while not putting self or others at risk. This includes complying with applicable policies and regulations; using personal safety gear; observing warning signs; learning about potential hazards; and reporting unsafe conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of program activity practices and procedures.
- Requires verbal and written communication in the English language, active listening, dynamic flexibility.
- Able to exercise sound judgment and employ reasoning skills.
- Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn campus policies and procedures.
- May work in fitness and outdoor programs.
Licenses/Certifications
- Red Cross CPR required.
- Standard First Aid Training Certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a diverse recreational setting is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Certification to instruct in the applicable recreational sports program and/or equivalent training or experience preferred.
Salary & Benefits
- This is a two-year, 15% part-time, 6-hours per week, Contract (temporary) appointment.
