Job Summary:
The Department of History, in the College of Arts and Sciences, is seeking a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in January 2023. We seek a colleague who has the ability to engage in, conversations across the disciplines of history, religious studies, Black American studies, and Appalachian Studies (AOS American religious history, broadly construed). This appointment will be shared between the Departments of History, Appalachian Studies, and Philosophy (administrative home of the religious studies program) all of whom participate in an interdisciplinary religious studies program.
The successful candidate must be willing/prepared to teach at least one semester of an American History Survey and/or an introduction to the study of world religions. AOC: religion in Southern Appalachia, or an interest in developing a teaching and research program in this region. Assignment will include a 3/3 teaching load, expectations of research, and usual service duties.
