Position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University
ILR School appreciates employees:

This position will provide a wide variety of administrative support for teaching and research faculty members, resident and visiting lecturers, and graduate students in the Department of Economics in the ILR School. This position is also responsible for providing administrative support to the Labor Dynamics Institute (LDI).
To be successful in this position we are seeking candidates who appreciate and take ownership in the following, and not limited to:
- act as liaison between department faculty, college and university administration;
- coordinate academic searches,
- provide support for teaching and research activities,
- oversee preparation of class materials,
- maintain department and faculty websites (including Canvas websites),
- compile materials and proofread,
- prepare confidential documents,
- process faculty travel reimbursements,
- prepare and submit billing and expenses,
- monitor department and faculty account and budget functions,
- order office supplies and equipment,
- maintain course and research files,
- participate as an active member of the academic Administrative Assistant team,
This candidate will interact with undergrad and graduate students, postdocs, visiting speakers and researchers. The position demands the ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize work on simultaneous projects, and the ability to work successfully under pressure at a variety of tasks within a fast-paced, team-oriented, diverse office setting.
To be considered a qualified candidate, you will need to bring the following:
- Associates Degree and a minimum of two to four years of experience in an office setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior office experience in a teaching and research-based setting.
- Ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks while working under pressure within a fast-paced, office environment.
- Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Ability to interact tactfully with diverse groups of individuals.
- Must be flexible and able to work with many different work styles at one time.
- Must be able to prioritize requests, manage time effectively to meet departmental and university deadlines
- Ability to take initiative and be a pro-active team member.
- A demonstrated ability to work in a disruptive environment without being distracted is essential.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects, manage events and special assignments
- Must have outstanding organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion is essential.
- Expertise in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Ability to quickly learn new software, equipment, and systems.
- Ability to monitor and manage financial accounts.
- Prior experience with event planning
- General database operating knowledge and internet search skills.
You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
- Minimum six years of experience in an office setting.
- Knowledge of Cornell University Concur travel and reimbursement system.
- Experience with PeopleSoft Faculty Center, Canvas, Drupal, Zoom, and Lyris.
- Knowledge of Procurement and Travel & Meal business cards, eShop and I Want Doc procurement systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in Kuali Financial Systems and Webfin2 and working knowledge of Cornell's financial policies
- Experience with Workday, OLGAA (On-Line Grade Adjustment Application), Exchange Group Accounts, Cornell University Box, Cornell Dropbox, Academic Jobs Online
- Experience working with Drupal, HTML or other web development tools.
- Knowledge of SurveyGizmo, Qualtrics or similar online survey software.
- Knowledge of Mailchimp and other online communication tools.
- Prior student supervisory experience and skills.
- Prior experience working with college age workers.
- Experience in proofing and editing technical and scientific papers in the social sciences.
- Demonstrated history and continued commitment to Cornell University's ideals and "Staff Skills for Success"
