General Statement
The Coordinator, Career Services and Credit for Prior Learning is responsible for coordinating career services and credit for prior learning activities aimed at increasing student success and access to living wage occupations within their chosen career or technical field. While special emphasis is placed on the career development of Perkins-defined special populations (non-traditional by gender, students with disabilities, English speakers of other languages and others), all QCC students?both credit and non-credit-may utilize the services of this office.
As such, the Coordinator, Career Services and Credit for Prior Learning will interact with all deans, directors, faculty and instructors within Academic Affairs including workforce development and college & career pathways. Specific areas of concentration include but may not be limited to: career development and workplace readiness, cooperative education, job search assistance, credit for prior learning, incoming articulations and agreements from external agencies and institutions, and development of career resources.
The Coordinator, Career Services and Credit for Prior Learning works closely with other staff associated with Career Services & Credit for Prior Learning. The Coordinator, Career Services and Credit for Prior Learning works closely with the Assistant Vice-President for Workforce Readiness & Innovation or designee to oversee operations, develop program goals & objectives, and to coordinate budget preparation and other required reporting and documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees career development and cooperative education/placement related activities including the development of employer relations, job and co-op advertisement and student job search assistance, the management of an on-line placement network, and on and off-campus recruiting events.
- Works collaboratively with deans, directors, faculty and instructors within Academic Affairs including workforce development and college & career pathways and office of institutional research to ensure that placement options reflect current industry needs and QCC program competencies and student learning outcomes.
- Investigates and develops potential placement opportunities for students with appropriate business and industry representatives, with an emphasis on the placement of student special populations. Works with office of community connections and academic divisions to share and receive contact information.
- Develops and implements a range of career development, workforce readiness and job search assistance activities and resources to promote the awareness of non-traditional options to male and female students such as industry panels, career focus web site with role models/mentors, professional development for advising and admissions staff, and specialized outreach to non-traditional student populations.
- Identifies and promotes equity and inclusion related activities across campus. Collaborates with college departments on the integration and delivery of inclusion related activities including the dissemination of materials.
- Collaborates with the College's Office of Student Accessibility Services in regard to the specific needs of non-traditional by gender students with disabilities.
- Researches, develops, and promotes credit for prior learning options for students. Actively participates in statewide CPL activities and networking meetings.
- Investigates, evaluates, and develops incoming articulation agreements and processes with appropriate educational organizations. Collaborates with academic deans on potential articulation agreements.
- Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities to include but not be limited to: tracking, monitoring, standardizing, updating and providing reports on departmental activity related to incoming articulation agreements, career development and workplace readiness, cooperative education, and job search assistance.
- Utilizes the appropriate Student Information System tools to record student activity and generate reports.
- Participates in meetings and professional development activities to learn best practices and pertinent information from relevant professional organizations that deal with equity and inclusion, employment for people with disabilities, non-traditional by gender career opportunities, career development and workplace readiness, cooperative education, and job search assistance and other as appropriate.
- Assures integrity and consistency of all career services and credit for prior learning processes.
- Actively supports the teaching and learning process; practicing honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; striving to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence.
- Works actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork. Respects the function of dissent in an academic institution while advancing a collegial atmosphere of campus collaboration.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Counseling, Education or Bachelor's degree with related professional experience.
- Professional experience and/or training that includes career counseling, employer recruitment and job development, human resource management, student recruitment, career skills assessment, credit for prior learning, counseling, marketing, and/or public relations; or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of theory and best practice related to cooperative education, job search strategies, resume development, interview skills and workplace readiness.
- Experience working with community college students and faculty with emphasis on credit for prior learning, career readiness and job search skills.
- Experience cultivating and maintaining relationships with relevant community stakeholders, especially employers in a broad cross-section of industry sectors.
- Demonstrated understanding and use of virtual career exploration and job search tools and resources and social media tools (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage and prioritize many projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in and outside of the classroom.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; the ability to effectively lead small and large groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team with career professional, faculty, clerical and administrative staff, and students.
