Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management:
The Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management is a large and diverse school within the SC Johnson College of Business and is currently ranked number 3 in the Bloomberg BusinessWeek rankings. It includes a total of over 750 undergraduates, over 2000 minors and over 100 graduate students. With over 75 faculty, nationally and internationally known scholars in economics and business disciplines. The land-grant mission of the College, which encompasses research, education, and extension programs, allows for the creation and dissemination of knowledge that makes a difference for students, the citizens of New York, the nation, and people around the globe.
The Instructional and Program Coordinator Opportunity:
This position is primarily responsible for administrative, programmatic, and project coordination to support effective business and daily administrative operations for instruction, extension, and programs. The coordinator will be charged with running day to day support to faculty and the Tax School while providing specialized project management support to high level instructional initiatives, events, and student trips that have a broad impact across the College of Business. This includes smaller events that arise out of teaching and research (eg: BREXIT, Outlook conference).
Under limited supervision and in a team-oriented environment, the Instructional and Program Coordinator will collaborate with various academic administrative support teams in utilizing project management skills, administrative experiences, and budget management to develop effective solutions for programming that supplements the educational experiences at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Extremely organized and strong at relationship building.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and consistency in bringing your best self and positive contributions to our team environment.
- Technical and administrative support with instruction (creating, updating, and building Canvas Course sites).
- Tax School Support (attendee relationship management, payment processing, enhance customer service)
- Conference and Student Trip Support (Supporting the Moral Psychology Conference; DLGP Outlook Conference, IBHF Conference, BREXIT Trip, International and Social Impact Trip)
- Travel reimbursements: Ensuring that fellows are proactively working to obtain their visas, Identifying and reserving accommodation and travel arrangements, setting up cash advance for per diem payments, arranging and promoting feedback workshop and seminars, arranging work space for fellows, arranging social events for fellows ahead of their visit, creating and sharing visit itinerary for each visitor and their mentors, ensuring that fellows and mentors are prepared for the Feedback Workshop that takes places shortly after arrival, orienting fellow on campus upon arrival, Arranging reimbursements of visa or other expenses.
- Constantly evaluating work and making suggestions on efficiencies and process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years related experience or equivalent combination.
- Exceptional customer service skills and proven experience in event planning and employee recognition strategy.
- Excellent oral/written communication, organizational and time management skills are essential Excellent judgment, communication and public relations skills required, as well as strong detail management and follow-through skills with the ability to prioritize and respond quickly to multiple projects, while accomplishing tasks that are urgent or of a sensitive or confidential nature, meeting competing deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with key departments and contacts.
- Ability to work with and represent work unit professionally and ethically with tact, diplomacy, and advocacy, while creating a high-quality and respectful work environment.
- Ability to foster a team environment while meeting individual and unit goals in accordance with the broader mission.
- Flexibility in adapting plans consistent with changing needs.
- Able to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend work as necessitated by events schedule.
- Proficiency in word-processing, database management, electronic calendaring and presentation software.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must possess and maintain valid driver license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or additional advanced vocational diploma or certification preferred.
- Knowledge and expertise with Cornell University accounting systems, as well as working knowledge of Online, Accounting Data Warehouse, and other mainframe systems.
- Knowledge and experience in PowerPoint presentations, Word, project/event-planning and graphics software.
