Working collaboratively with college leadership, faculty and staff, the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness holds primary responsibility for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive institutional planning and evaluation program based on continuous improvement, organizational efficiency, and overall institutional success. The dean provides leadership and support in the planning, budgeting, management, development of initiatives and activities, and evaluation. The dean plays a significant role in college and program accreditation. This position requires collaboration and planning with all areas of the college. The position reports to the provost.
- Provides leadership that enables the college to meet its mission and maintain its accreditation by applying advanced knowledge of planning principles, institutional research methodologies, statistical analyses, survey design and administration, and best practices of outcome assessment to monitor institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Fosters innovation and quality improvement through effective coordination, development, implementation and assessment of college-wide innovations and initiatives.
- Maintains high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
- In collaboration with academic and administrative units, provides oversight for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive program (academic and non-academic) review process, to include the systematic assessment of student learning across the curriculum.
- Works collaboratively across the College to ensure a student-centered philosophy in teaching, learning and student life, while also ensuring that assessment methods accurately measure identified goals.
- Serves as project manager for identified strategic initiatives of the college, as needed; consults with academic and administrative units to develop, implement, and evaluate plans and strategies to support student success and retention initiatives; and other duties as assigned.
- Challenge and improve the college's analytical capability through the development of tools or processes that offer opportunities for deeper insights to be used in strategic decision making.
- Develops annual budget for area in alignment with college's strategic plan and provides management of budget expenditures.
- Serves as the College's accreditation liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and direct all efforts related to reaffirmation, reporting substantive changes, and meeting other requirements to maintain compliance with the Principles of Accreditation.
- Supports all college program accreditation activities.
- Provides leadership, organization and expertise for the College's multi-year and annual strategic planning processes.
- Provides supervision for institutional research staff.
- Oversees the reporting of state and federal data for the College and collaborates with faculty and staff to use the results of the data to improve programs and services.
- Provide systematic reports to president, provost, and other personnel.
- Supports grant development by assisting principal investigators, faculty, staff and consultants in pursuing public and private funding sources that align with the mission and goals of the College.
- Responds to external and internal requests for information.
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings.
- Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the provost.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
- Master's degree (related field) and three years related experience, or equivalent.
