Position Details:
The History Department at Loyola University Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in African American history, with a particular focus on the nineteenth and/or twentieth centuries. Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching (including engaging in high impact practices in History), scholarship, and service. The successful applicant will teach three undergraduate courses a semester (ordinarily two preparations), including HS 100 Encountering the Past. Taken by all Loyola students as part of the Core Curriculum, HS 100 Encountering the Past uses the perspective of a single historical topic chosen by the instructor to introduce students to the field of history and its importance for understanding the present. Participation in the African and African American Studies minor and Messina, Loyola's first-year program, likely. The appointment will begin in August 2023. Ph.D. in hand and teaching experience preferred.
