Position Summary
The Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama is seeking a candidate for a tenured Associate or Full Professor position in Applied Economics and Real Estate in the Department of Economics, Finance, and Legal Studies. The candidate responsibilities include conducting and publishing academic research in high quality journals, generating external research funding, teaching courses in the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs, and engaging in service at a level commensurate with the level of faculty appointment.
Detailed Position Information
The ideal candidate will have a background in applied/urban economics, real estate, or related disciplines, and will be capable of making significant contributions both in their broader areas as well as in the fields of real estate economics/finance or urban/applied economics. Primary duties will include teaching real estate and/or economics at the graduate and undergraduate levels, engaging in a research program that generates external funding and results in articles in high-quality scholarly publications, and performing service as assigned by the Department, College, and University.
Minimum Qualifications
(1) A doctoral degree in economics, finance, real estate or a closely related field; (2) a demonstrated record of research published in high-quality journals and consistent external funding; (3) demonstrated high quality teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants are encouraged from a broad range of disciplines (e.g., business, economics, finance, public policy, real estate, urban planning) with a demonstrated capacity and success to generate external funding. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and achievements. The individual who fills this position may be given the opportunity to assist the college in recruiting an additional junior faculty member in the field of applied/urban economics and/or real estate to enhance synergies in research productivity and grant success.
