Job Description
Indiana University East, Richmond, IN, invites applications for an anticipated full-time lecturer faculty position in Criminal Justice, commencing August 1, 2023 or January 1, 2023, depending on the successful candidate's availability. An earned Master's degree is required for lecturer positions (Please note that candidates with only a J.D. cannot be considered for this position). The successful candidate should be a generalist with the ability to teach a variety of courses. Candidates should be committed to high-quality undergraduate teaching. Some experience in developing and teaching online courses is preferred. H-1B sponsorship is not available for this position.
While online teaching is an essential aspect of our programs, regular presence on campus is important to our mission, and is therefore expected.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
· Teach online and face-to-face introductory and advanced Criminal Justice courses in a BS in Criminal Justice program.
· Serve as the primary instructor for general Criminal Justice classes including Introduction to Criminal Justice, Theory, and Research Methods; may teach a variety of other Criminal Justice classes, including Courts and elective courses. May coordinate internships.
· Communicate subject matter clearly, correctly, and effectively. Use methods, materials, and technology appropriate to the subject matter.
· Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school and campus academic policies.
· Participate in service activities across the department, college, school, university, and professional levels
· Demonstrate the ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse populations within the university and community.
