The Education Department at Keene State College invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Elementary Education and Literacy beginning August 2023. We seek faculty who can work collaboratively with school professionals to prepare socially responsible teachers.The successful candidate will work with colleagues to teach a range of undergraduate Elementary and Literacy courses that will prepare teacher candidates with the skills and knowledge to enter K-6 classrooms. The teaching load is 12 credits, which will include teaching and supervision in the undergraduate Elementary Methods courses, with the remaining 4 credits supporting foundational courses. Inclusive classroom practices with a focus on literacy and social studies pedagogy are central to this position. Collaboration in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship with colleagues in the department and across the College, as well as with schools in the region, is an integral part of this position.Our students come from diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds, with a high percentage of first-generation college students. By the time Keene State College students complete their undergraduate experience they develop critical thinking, creative inquiry, intercultural competence, civic engagement, and commitments to well-being and to sustainability that will serve them as active citizens and lifelong learners. ⢠An earned doctorate in Education or related field. ABD near completion will also be considered but must be completed by August 1, 2023.⢠A minimum of five years full-time teaching experience at the elementary level (K-6).⢠Supervision/mentoring of pre-service teachers and/or educational professionals.
