Job Description:
What We're Looking For
Baylor University's George W. Truett Theological Seminary invites applications for the Continuing Education Program Manager position serving Truett's Faith & Sports Institute. A successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
1) Leadership Skills and Experience
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a passion for education, growth, and development of self and others
- Goal-oriented with skill in strategic thinking, problem solving, and conflict management
- Evidence of successful decision-making in a fast-paced environment, excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills, and proven ability to work collaboratively or one-on-one with people from diverse ecclesial, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Demonstrated experience and ability in leadership/mentoring roles
2) Curriculum/Educational Program Development
- Academic expertise in subjects pertinent to the study of sports and Christianity, with possibilities including theology, ministry, leadership, racial/ethnic diversity, and/or social/cultural aspects of sports
- Demonstrated ability to teach, train, and lead others, including development of curriculum or educational content
- Understanding of effective pedagogical strategies in non-traditional educational spaces, including online environments and workshops/seminars
- Familiarity with technology and communication strategies relevant to online education
- Understanding of evaluation and assessment as it relates to student learning outcomes and ongoing development of curriculum
- Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Data Base Management and PowerPoint.
3) Faith/Sports Integration
- Conversant in Christian theology and ethics, spiritual/moral formation and ministry, and vocation
- An enthusiastic and thoughtful Christian faith and evidence of a heart for cross-cultural ministry and education
- Experience engaging sports for moral and spiritual formation, community organizing, integration of faith and sports, and/or social justice issues
- Understanding of and appreciation for the people and culture of sports, including personal experience as a sports practitioner
A Master's degree in a field related to theology, education, leadership, or the humanities, experience as a sports practitioner, two years relevant work experience with teaching, mentoring, or curriculum development, and an active Christian faith is required. A terminal/doctoral degree in theology, education, leadership, or the humanities, and two years relevant work experience with online and/or non-traditional forms of education is preferred. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Schedule
Attendance may be required at FSI program events and other project-specific administrative meetings. Office hours may vary depending on scheduled events but primarily weekdays between 8 am and 5 pm and limited to 40 hrs. per week. Responsibilities may require flexibility that includes some evenings and weekends.
What You Will Do
- Oversees daily operations of FSI's Online Certificate Program, including communication, administration, implementation, and evaluation
- Serves as facilitator/instructor for online certificate courses as needed and based on expertise
- Facilitates development of new certificate/continuing education courses with a collaborative team of experts and practitioners
- Provides training and oversight for facilitators/instructors of FSI's certificate courses
- Carries out ongoing evaluation and assessment of FSI's certificate program and courses in collaboration with the Assistant Director
- Assists with marketing and recruitment strategies for FSI offerings, including building ongoing relationships with partners and supporters and meeting goals related to recruiting and enrollment
- Assists with strategic planning for FSI, including expanding capacity and scale for the Online Certificate Program and considering other continuing education opportunities
- Represents FSI and its continuing education offerings to the public
- Pursues continual personal growth and development related to the intersecting subjects of sports and Christianity
- Collaborates with Baylor offices and staff members relevant to continuing education projects
