University of Minnesota Duluth’s Department of Art & Design invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of graphic design to join eight full-time faculty teaching in our BFA Graphic Design program.
As an assistant professor, you’ll teach undergraduate courses, research, advise students, and serve the college, campus, university, discipline, and/or local community. Additional responsibilities include coordinating departmental programs and curriculum development. A successful candidate will have an active design portfolio or research agenda and will demonstrate a commitment to antiracist practices.

- Salary range: $55,000-60,000 depending on qualifications

Required Qualifications:
- MFA, MDes, or PhD in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Communication Design, Visual Communication Design, or a related field from a regionally accredited university by 6/15/2023.
- Two years of college-level teaching experience in a Mac-based lab environment or Mac laptop classroom (may include graduate TA experience)
- Expertise in design software, platforms as well as print and/or production processes
- Evidence of social justice, culturally responsive, and antiracist practices in teaching, scholarship/creative activity, advising, and/or service-
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two or more years professional work experience in the design industry
- Expertise in at least one of the following areas: design research & packaging design, web, motion, interactive, mobile, social media, marketing & advertising, typography, editorial & publishing, environmental, illustration, and/or history of graphic design
