Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
Teach migrant and seasonal farmworker students (MSFW) in preparation for the high school equivalency exam with bilingual (English/Spanish) instructional activities in person and online; participate in developing an integrated universally designed curriculum; assess the needs of participants and develop instructional plans to meet those needs and provide academic guidance; participate in the decision-making process pertaining to issues affecting progress; help select participants; help plan, develop, and implement academic assistance and career exploration workshops; administer culturally relevant material and assessments; support and participate in participant initiatives. Under the direction of the Director of HEP, HEP instructors are responsible for teaching in the following subject areas: social studies, science, mathematics, and reasoning through language arts. A successful candidate will share the vision to address changing social, educational demographic, instructional and financial issues that impact service delivery.
Required Qualifications:
- Positions require a Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to teach migrant and seasonal farmworkers in preparation for the GED exam with bilingual (English/Spanish) in-person and online instructional activities; subject areas included on the exam are social studies, science, math, and reasoning through language arts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership.
- Work independently in multiple roles.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with outside agencies including migrant education programs, migrant councils, referral agents, school districts, Tribal Education offices, and/or parents.
- Willingness to work evening and weekend hours on an occasional basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Comes from a similar background of the target population.
- Master's degree.
- Experience in teaching, counseling, and advising processes and techniques, higher education, financial aid, and academic and career development practices.
- Prior experience with HEP/CAMP programs.
- Experience in a higher education setting working with students who are educationally, economically, and otherwise disadvantaged.
- Experience with instruction in a classroom setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of factors impacting the high school equivalency experience of students from migrant/seasonal farm worker families.

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on June 30, 2022. This position is in the first year of a five year budget cycle and is anticipated to be renewed.
