One-year, Full-time Faculty Position - Greek Language and Mediterranean Culture
The Department of Classical Studies at Brandeis University invites applications for a full-time, one-year instructor in Greek and Latin language and literature for the 2022â‘2023 academic year. The position, which carries a teaching load of five courses (3/2) may involve student advising (Masterâ™s Theses and undergraduate Senior Theses). A hire at the rank of lecturer is assumed but a higher rank will be considered if held previously by the offer candidate. Please note that Brandeis is now working with the assumption that all 2022-2023 courses will be taught in person. Courses to be taught may include introductory Greek, New Testament Greek, and topics in Mediterranean history and culture.
Area of specialization is open. Candidates must have experience teaching Greek and Latin at the introductory levels. We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to a campus climate that supports equality and diversity. A PhD in Classical Studies or related fields would be preferred but ABD candidates in Classical Studies or related fields may also be considered.
Application materials should be submitted through Brandeisâ™ HR Careers website, job reference R0006055. Required materials include a cover letter describing qualifications and interest, a current CV and a statement of research interests. Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including course evaluations, should also be provided. Please include the names of three references willing to submit recommendations in either your CV or cover letter. Questions about the position may be directed to Darlene Brooks Hedstrom, Chair of the Department of Classical Studies (brookshedstrom@brandeis.edu) or David DeVore, academic administrator (daviddevore@brandeis.edu). First consideration will be given to applications received before June 1, 2022.
