The Department of Special Education invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor (tenure-line) faculty position available for the 2022-23 academic year. Our department is seeking professionals with strong interpersonal skills and professionals who value collaborative teaching approaches to promote cross-disciplinary knowledge that will serve our graduates in their careers. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable teaching skills in guiding the growth of academic programs and curricula and working experience in teaching.
Description:
The Department of Special Education has a full-time tenure-track faculty position available at the Assistant Professor level available August 2023. The Assistant Professor will be expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities: teach both main campus and online introductory and methods courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the area of Deaf Education; oversee practicum and student teaching supervisions; oversee coordination of the deaf/hard of hearing program; conduct research and participate in other scholarly activities; participate in departmental, college and/or university committees; and other duties typically expected of a faculty member. Possible summer teaching is available if desired.
Minimum Qualifications:
a. Doctorate or provide evidence of ABD status (must have doctoral degree conferred by official start date in August 2023) in Deaf Education, Special Education or a related field.
b. Minimum of three years of public or private school teaching experience with students who are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing.
c. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) as shown by a ASLPI score of 3+ or better.
d. Record of or potential for scholarly activities commensurate with rank.
