Position Summary:
RIETS is seeking an independent, motivated advancement professional to assist in the development of fund-raising strategies for new and existing stakeholders. The Development Officer will draft fund-raising proposals, reports, grants and correspondences and will be responsible for achieving a specified annual fundraising goal, while ensuring the CRM's data integrity. The Development Officer may organize parlor meetings, student or rabbinic speakers and other fundraising events.
Reporting to the RIETS Associate VP of IA, this position includes development, stewardship, CRM management, volunteer management, communications, event planning and grant writing.
Position Responsibilities:
The duties of the RIETS Associate Director of Development are as follows, but not limited to:
Portfolio Management and Donor Relations
- Manage a portfolio of RIETS Parents, Alumni and donor prospects
- Assist with the management of all donor prospects
- Assist in coordinating marketing material related to all fundraising campaigns
- Aim to increase alumni donors through alumni dues and minimize annual LYBUNTS
- Manage the annual Day of Learning peer to peer fundraising campaign
- Coordinate Shiur sponsorships from alumni of each Rosh Yeshiva
- Be the point of contact for all RIETS constituents and have familiarity with RIETS programs to assist as needed
- Develop strategy for stewardship and cultivation of potential planned and major gifts
- Coordinate with YU IA development staff in the discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects likely to support RIETS specific programs and activities
- Develop proposals and gift agreements in coordination with YU development staff
- Plan campus visits for prospects with Roshei Yeshiva and RIETS leadership as part of a strategic cultivation plan as required
- Plan cultivation and stewardship events meetings as appropriate
- Work to grow alumni giving through alumni dues and Elef L'Mateh membership
- Manage annual phone-a-thon campaign
- Provide call lists for staff members
- Collect data for contact reports and data updates
- Follow up with donors as needed
- Program Management and Collaboration
- Identify and work with data and research teams to research prospects and report on giving history to identify the time of year or event to solicit each prospect
- Work with University Advancement colleagues on program purpose, goals and opportunities for collaboration. Partner with YU Annual Giving Programs to outreach to targeted constituent programs, increase awareness and build donor base
- Identify alumni donors to cultivate, engage and solicit to support constituent programs
- Budgeting for programming and stewardship
- Coordinate Kaddish being said for donors family members for Yahrtzeits and the year of mourning
- Ability to travel and to work evenings and weekends on occasion
Experience & Educational Background:
- An undergraduate degree
- Three years plus of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience in professional fundraising, and public relations
- Knowledge of the Orthodox world
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent writing, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Collaborative team-oriented style
- Ability to consistently demonstrate a high level of professionalism in demeanor, attire and personal interactions.
- Working knowledge of tax laws affecting charitable giving
- Knowledge of CRM
Salary Range:
70k-80k
