The School of Music invites nominations and applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Music Media Production beginning August, 2023 to teach advanced audio courses in the Music Media Production curriculum.
Our dynamic faculty function as collaborative, innovative, inclusive and adaptive members of the College of Fine Arts community, both within and beyond the home unit, serving as quality teachers, productive in creative and/or scholarly work, engaged in public service activities, and contributing to the Ball State and Muncie communities and beyond. Additionally, lifelong learning at Ball State University extends educational engagement beyond the classroom and includes learning for professional development, personal enrichment, or other goals throughout one's lifetime. Faculty will be expected to participate in the department's, college's, and university's lifelong learning opportunities when available and may be assigned teaching responsibility in this area as part of their overall responsibilities.
Teaching assignments include undergraduate courses in Music Media Production including courses in digital and analog signal flow as pertinent to audio production and live sound, acoustics, teach mixing and mastering; and other courses as assigned, based on the needs of the school and the expertise of the candidate.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in music technology, audio engineering or a related field by date of appointment.
- Experience: Music technology instruction at the University level, basic DSP and immersive audio skills
- Proficiency or certifications in AVID Pro Tools Ultimate including AVID S series of control surfaces
- Proficiency in analog and digital audio equipment
- Proficiency in basic analog signalflow
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent in music technology, audio engineering, DSP
- Experience: Significant industry and/or teaching experience in immersive audio, DSP, Middleware (WWISE, FMOD) and cross-discipline collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience in game audio, immersive environments.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate courses.
- Experience in live sound, and production of commercial music.
- Proficiency in scripting languages and/or application frameworks such as JUCE
- Demonstrated high proficiency in DSP environments such as Matlab, Reaktor, Cycling 74 MAX
- Experience in electronics, soldering, building, instruction

Salary and benefit packages for this position are competitive, with salaries for this opportunity beginning at $53,000 annually.
