King is currently seeking a caring, energetic and motivated Program Support Assistant. Approximately half of this person’s time will be spent as an after school care provider for King students from ages 3 to 10. Mornings and early afternoons will include providing coverage and student support in the absence of the classroom teacher, fulfilling recess duty and lunch coverage, as well as providing administrative support to our front office staff for approximately 60 - 90 minutes a day. Candidates must have a caring and loving demeanor, work well with others, and take direction from the After School Care Coordinator and Head of the Lower School. The Program Support Assistant is expected to understand and support King’s mission, school culture, and operational practices as well as exhibit professional behavior, and display a positive attitude.

Work Hours: 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Primary responsibilities for the aftercare program include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
- Organizing and leading activities for students of various ages, i.e. arts and crafts, games.
- Supervising homework time for older students.
- Supervising indoor and outdoor activities, in the gym and on the playground.
- Serving as the lead program staff member and assisting other staff members as needed.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide coverage and student support in the absence of the classroom teacher.
- Assist in providing a safe and joyful learning environment that integrates and assimilates the use of social emotional learning into daily student interaction.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and administration to promote a positive learning experience.
- Use Responsive Classroom methods for classroom management.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development.
- Provide administrative support/coverage to our front office staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate’s Degree required.
- Infant/Child CPR-AED and First Aid Certification - King will provide.
- A strong affinity for young children, flexibility, and a sense of humor are required.
- Flexible mindset and ability to manage evolving assignments.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to constructively collaborate with
- Possess a sound understanding of the developmental stages of elementary school aged students.
- Experience working collaboratively with other adults in an early childhood setting.
- Proven ability to bring positivity and professionalism to the work environment.
- Must be able to communicate with After School Care Program parents about their child’s afternoon.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Demonstrated cross-cultural competence--ability to effectively teach, learn, and engage in a multicultural environment with a diverse student body--in pedagogical practice and multicultural curriculum content.
- Demonstrated capacity in culturally responsive professional practices, excellent communication skills, and ability to constructively collaborate with colleagues, students and parents.
- Must have a demonstrated alignment with King’s Mission and Virtues.
- Other duties, as assigned by the Head of Lower School, including – but not limited to – recess duty, lunch coverage, etc.
