Departmental Overview
Facilities Services provides the Berkeley campus with a physical environment of the highest quality that supports teaching, research, and public services in keeping with the mission of the University of California. Custodial Contract Management supports Facilities Services by managing quality contracted custodial services for campus events and specialized cleaning projects. The Facilities Services Custodial Events Manager manages a team of Project and Supervisors responsible for managing client needs for over 200 campus events per year, more than 25 theater productions and hundreds of specialized cleaning projects. The Events Manager will provide direct services to large key clients and will oversee the assignment and work of Supervisors, Leads, Custodians, and Project Management Specialists. Position involves administering contractual documents that establish business relationships with contractors, customers and partners. Collaborates with internal partners to assure client departments receive quality custodial services for events and projects. Assures professional event support, custodial contracting services are provided in compliance with system wide and campus policies and procedures. Directly supervises multiple work groups providing custodial and event support services to facilities and/or areas of the University Of California Berkeley Campus on a recharge basis. Position will be required to various schedule shifts and long hours depending on the need of the operations.

Responsibilities
- Adhering to the master plan for the Custodial Contract Service, manages the work of the Project Management team to ensure that project requirements are defined, appropriate costing for events and projects is properly determined and quality work is provided to campus clients.
- Ensures that the team works with campus department clients and contractors to determine the scope of work and work plan for each project.
- Ensures the selection of the appropriate contracting method based upon departmental needs for all events and projects.
- Ensures the preparation of complex work orders for events and projects that are directly favorable to the department and campus and are compliant with regulations and policy.
- Large events managed by incumbent require oversight and management of up to 100 contract employees for single events for periods of up to 2-3 weeks in time.
- Up to 3-4 simultaneous events occur at the same time requiring incumbent and staff managed by incumbent to manage programs involving cleaning services provided by over 100 people In multiple locations at one time.
- Directly manages the event and work process for large athletic events, major venue and events.
- Enforces, reviews, plans and allocated recharge and contracted custodial services for a large number of events across the entire campus
- Backs up Supervisor and Project Management staff as needed.
- Backs up Director as needed.
- Supervises staff.
- Provides mentorship, training, and performance evaluations for staff.
Required Qualifications
- Strong skills to facilitate and collaborate with various internal and external constituencies on short- and long -term facilities planning and management.
- Strong analytical, research and report preparation skills to meet regulatory and budgetary reporting requirements.
- Strong skills in leadership, motivation of staff and team-building.
- Strong skills in management, regulatory compliance and operations planning.
- Broad knowledge in the areas of facilities management, space planning and allocation, security, fire and safety and emergency preparedness.
- Strong skills in verbal and written communications.
- 3+ years managing custodial services operations for a large operation
- Experience and knowledge to manage custodial services operations.
- Excellent political acumen and customer service skills
- Ability to work long hours and work weekend
- Ability multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to function effectively and perform work in an electronic systems environment including the ability to manage and work with data bases.
Education/Training:
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Salary & Benefits
- This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience up to $110,000.00.
- This is a full-time (40 hours/week), Career position.
