Position Description
The Department of Social Work at Fontbonne University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Criminal Justice at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin fall semester 2023.
Responsibilities for the position include teaching four courses (twelve hours) per semester, advising students, and participating in department and university service. The successful candidate will contribute to the promotion and growth of an undergraduate major in criminal justice. Applicants must show evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring, a commitment to student growth, evidence of professional development, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to the criminal justice field. The Opportunity
- Interprofessional collaboration to develop a broad-based Criminal Justice program built on behavioral science and grounded in theory, research, and data analysis with an emphasis on diversity and human relations.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach 12 credit hours per semester with office hours
- Engage in professional development
- Develop curriculum and courses
- Advise Students
- Engage in departmental and university committee work as assigned
- Work to advance quality and recognition of the Criminal Justice program, including the review, revision & development of curriculum
- Foster relationships with community and training partners
- Work with other members of the department and Fontbonne community to move the University and department in a positive direction
- Perform other responsibilities set forth in the faculty manual and as assigned

Qualifications - Required
- Earned doctorate in Criminal Justice, criminology or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Individuals who are ABD in the final stage of degree completion will also be considered.
- 3-5 years of demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching criminal justice courses at the university level
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, self-direction, and professionalism
Qualifications – Preferred
- PhD in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or related field
- Experience in curriculum and program development
- 3-5 years of professional experience in the field of Criminal Justice
- Experience supporting students as an academic advisor, and/or an advisor of research projects.
- Community engagement as demonstrated through leadership in professional organizations, community service, community-based participatory research, or other relevant activities
- Possession of other recognized Criminal Justice certifications
