Position Summary:
The Executive Director will provide leadership, vision, and direction to enhance a culture of data-informed decision making and data literacy across the institution. Under the direction of the Chief Data Officer, the Executive Director will lead and oversee data efforts related to the University Data Stream and Tableau initiatives, equity, student success, strategic metrics, predictive analytics, and other key strategic areas identified by the University. The Executive Director will support the effective use of administrative data for reporting, analysis, and actionable insight and will lead the identification of institutional information needs: collecting, analyzing, interpreting and reporting data and information. The Executive Director will lead information management efforts and promote ongoing development of Institutional Research capability and maturity. The Executive Director will serve as the key contact for the office with other University departments and lead meetings as the senior department leader; enhance and extend the office's influence by providing strategic management of partnerships and data trainings; represent the office at local and national conferences and on committees; supervise, coach, and develop a team of analysts and data experts; provide leadership to ensure BSU's delivery of accurate and timely reports to the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and the Federal Government and to key data exchange organizations; present the work of the office to senior leadership and to external audiences; and in general, develop and implement creative new ways to support and advance BSU's data efforts.
Essential Duties:
● Enhance efforts for institutional data sharing, data-informed decision-making, and data literacy
● Provide leadership in identifying data to inform institutional decision-making and monitor institutional effectiveness and viability
● Provide leadership in the development and execution of quantitative and qualitative data analysis in support of student learning, student success, equity, academic planning, program review, and enrollment management initiatives
● Oversee University Data Stream and Tableau work plans, including enhanced tracking of key institutional metrics
● Oversee federal and state reporting
● Oversee survey administration, analysis, and results dissemination
● Oversee institutional reporting, including standard internal and external reports
● Ensure ongoing review and shaping of the office's policies and practices to reflect the changing needs of the department's core functions, and provide leadership for the office's projects, programs, and reporting methodologies that support key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in relevant field of study such as statistics, mathematics, social sciences or other related discipline
Minimum of five years of experience in institutional research/analytics or related area with progressive job and leadership responsibilities required.
Demonstrated expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods
Experience with building predictive analytics models
Demonstrated proficiency with SPSS software
expertise with Tableau reporting software
Demonstrated leadership and effective decision-making skills
Superior written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interact with diverse internal and external constituents.
Excellent presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with diverse students, staff, faculty, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders.
Possess a high level of organizational skills demonstrating ability to manage and prioritize multiple work streams, meet deadlines, respond rapidly to competing demands ensuring attention to detail while exercising adaptability
Demonstrated data-driven and creative problem-solving, process redesign, and innovative skill sets.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in managing information
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making assessments for decisions
Ability to work independently
Advanced computer application skills, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and database management software (Microsoft Office applications i.e., Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Doctoral Degree
Experience in higher education
Understanding of unionized work environment

Salary Range: $105,000-$115,000
