The School of Language, Culture, and Society invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position.
Anthropology offers undergraduate degrees on the Corvallis campus and via Ecampus, as well as a Master's and Ph.D. The program is uniquely located within the School of Language, Culture, & Society, a thriving hub that also includes Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, World Languages and Cultures, and Ethnic Studies, as well as minors and certificates in Global Learning, Food in Culture and Social Justice, Queer Studies, and Indigenous Studies. In addition to Anthropology, the School has two other graduate programs: WGSS (M.A.; Ph.D.) and a Master's program in College Student Services. Our distinctive structure of interrelated graduate and undergraduate programs in the social sciences and humanities offers exciting opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary, collaborative research and teaching across our fields. One such opportunity is a forthcoming center for teaching, research, and curation that will highlight collaborations between Archaeology and Indigenous Studies. Our research and applied learning are grounded in shared commitments to equity, justice, and social transformation and our grant-funded and public-facing research is nationally recognized for addressing pressing social, environmental, and cultural challenges faced by tribal, rural, and minoritized communities, both regionally and internationally.
Typically requires PhD or terminal degree (Masters for some Extension positions and MLS for Library positions), demonstrated ability to teach in a classroom Extension, or other setting, and develop a research program in the academic discipline/unit.
Requirements :
PhD in Anthropology or Archaeology, awarded by July 1, 2023, from an accredited college or university.
Research expertise in the precontact/early historic periods of the Northwest Coast and interior Pacific Northwest (including northern CA, OR, WA, ID, British Columbia, or southeastern AK).
Evidence of effective teaching in the classroom and/or online.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Experience with Indigenous methodologies and/or community-centered research practices.
Demonstrable commitment to working with Tribal nations
