The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a two-year term Program Coordinator - Coord Program C06 in the NYC Extension/Outreach Division.
Our Team:
ILR's Labor and Employment Law Program (LEL) Cannabis Workforce Initiative (CWI) is a partnership project with the Workforce Development Institute to provide training and resources to workers, employers, entrepreneurs, community and reentry groups, and others in the NYS cannabis industry to support the goals of NY's cannabis law (MRTA) to promote and support social equity in the adult-use cannabis market through quality workforce development and legal education, with the goal of creating generational wealth in communities impacted by the war on drugs. Programs are offered throughout New York State.
What we are seeking:
We are seeking people who appreciate and will take ownership in the following, and not limited to:
- managing scheduling and administrative processes for statewide LEL/CWI events and programs
- drafting and editing variety of documents and reports
- monitoring expenses, auditing accounts, and assisting with development of budget reports
- contributing to the development, maintenance and enhancement of LEL/CWI website and supporting marketing and communications needs, in collaboration with ILR Marketing and Communications
- managing student intern hiring and supervision
The candidate needs to have established the following:
- work successfully as part of a team,
- communicate professionally,
- manage multiple tasks,
- prioritize work on simultaneous projects,
- work successfully under pressure with minimal supervision at a variety of tasks within a fast-paced, team-oriented, diverse office setting
This is a two-year term, full-time, bargaining unit position that falls under the NYC ILR Extension exempt CWA contract. Initial appointment through December 31, 2024, position may be reappointed with approval based on available funding and work.
The position is based in the Cornell University, New York City ILR Extension office located at 570 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10022.
What we need:
- Bachelor's degree and two to four years of relevant experience in program, project or event management, in an academic or professional setting or equivalent combination.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, manage, implement and monitor projects and events from conception to completion.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage interactions and communication with faculty, business professionals, contractors, venue providers and senior level clients.
- Proven ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks on simultaneous projects, while working within a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent time management skills and dealing with changing priorities.
- Must possess the ability to work independently while supporting the efforts of an overall team.
- Demonstrated history of providing outstanding customer service.
- Excellent organizational, logistical and scheduling skills to address extended, complex projects timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and independent judgment.
- Ability to interact tactfully with diverse groups of individuals.
- Ability to take initiative and be a proactive team member by recognizing or anticipating needs and addressing them.
- Experience in diplomatically dealing with, and maintaining effective working relationships with business professionals, faculty and internal departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with budgeting, monitoring and managing financial accounts and preparing reports on financial activities.
- Expertise in Microsoft products including MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook (mastery level) skills.
- Experience with Salesforce or other customer relationship management database.
- Prior experience working with HTML, Drupal, or other web development tools.
- Experience with preparing content for various social media platforms, i.e., Facebook, Instagram, etc.
- Occasional travel within NYS may be required.
You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:
- Five or more years of program coordination experience, including program development and coordination, marketing strategy, web content development.
- Proficiency with the specialized applications including: Adobe Acrobat Pro, Qualtrics, Zoom, Box.
- Familiarity with virtual and web-based learning platforms, technologies and webcasts.
- Experience in proofing and editing social science and/or legal papers and reports.
- Prior experience with grant supported projects.
- Prior experience with student hiring and supervision.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
Salary per CWA exempt bargaining unit contract: $62,900 with education, experience and relevant skills the hiring salary may be up to $69,900.00.
