Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with enrollment of 770 students on two campuses in beautiful Central Coast California. The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stevenson School seeks a History Teacher to cover a planned faculty leave in March 2023.
The substitute teacher will provide instruction in 5 sections of History working with students in grades 9 and 10. The ideal candidate will have previous experience teaching Humanities at the secondary level and the ability to quickly establish connections with students and colleagues. Satisfactory completion of background checks including references, and state and federal criminal databases, as well as a TB negative status statement will be required.
Responsibilities Include:
- Classroom management
- Implementation of lesson plans, as appropriate
- Communication with division leadership and divisional and/or departmental colleagues
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous classroom teaching experience with students in similar age group or demonstrated relevant experience that would support success in a substitute teaching role
- A passion for learning and the ability to motivate and inspire students
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Personal traits appropriate for nurturing the growth of children - must be energetic, creative, flexible, patient, and have an inexhaustible sense of humor
