Description:
The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, in the College of Arts & Sciences, at Baylor University invites applications for a full-time lecturer faculty position beginning in August 2023. We seek applicants with strong interest and experience in teaching psychology courses at the undergraduate level. This appointment is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track, teaching-focused position whose primary responsibilities are instruction, mentoring, and service. Our teaching-focused faculty positions include the potential for promotion and opportunities for summer teaching. We seek a creative, engaging, and collaborative colleague who will contribute positively to the department's culture of innovative teaching, student-centered mentoring, and dedicated service to our undergraduate programs.
Candidates should be able to teach courses across the Psychology curriculum. Our primary teaching need is in developmental psychology and counseling/clinical psychology courses; however, we are additionally interested in applicants who can contribute to one or more of the following: lifespan development, psychology and aging, child development, survey of human development, abnormal psychology, introductory psychology, multicultural psychology, introduction to clinical psychology, child psychopathology, theories of psychotherapy and counseling, and/or social psychology.
The Department offers undergraduate degrees in psychology and neuroscience and serves over 800 undergraduate majors as well as two doctoral programs. Baylor University and the Department place a high priority on cultivating faculty success at all levels and supporting professional excellence through faculty development programs offered by the Academy for Teaching and Learning. The Department has a long history of teaching excellence, with numerous faculty recognized for outstanding teaching and mentoring. Our teaching-focused faculty are well-integrated into the department. In addition, numerous teaching-focused faculty have risen to prominent leadership positions such as undergraduate program director, faculty senators, and service on steering committees. We have demonstrated a sustained commitment to fostering an academic environment that fosters and supports diversity, equity, and inclusion, with teaching-focused faculty playing critical roles in these efforts. Qualifications:
A doctoral degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related fields is required by the time of appointment. We welcome applications from individuals in all sub-disciplines of psychology. We have a preference for candidates who can teach one or more of the following courses: lifespan development, psychology and aging, child development, introductory psychology, abnormal psychology, theories of psychotherapy and counseling, introduction to clinical psychology, child psychopathology, social psychology, and/or multicultural psychology.
