Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs, the Director of Strategic Initiatives serves as the lead for long-term strategic goals, including program planning, evaluation and improvement for the transition to the 4 year Spieker Undergraduate Program.

Responsibilities
Working closely with the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs to build out and improve upon the Haas undergraduate student experience by:
- Researching and summarizing industry-wide best practices for curricular planning, academic success, career exploration and overall student experience for 4 year programs.
- Developing proposals and recommendations to guide and support a broader strategic direction for the undergraduate programs throughout the transition and beyond.
- Training team members to deliver best-in-class service to current and incoming students.
Uses data to critically analyze and streamline processes while working with key internal and external stakeholders. Work with internal team members to produce reports to measure outcomes and dictate best solutions for existing problems. Conduct focus groups and surveys to engage current students and alumni. Create and evaluate post-graduation surveys to understand student needs and on specific topics as needed. Conduct post-implementation analysis to determine the need for further enhancements, finer distinctions and/or additional process/policy components.
Evaluate and research existing student communications to create a comprehensive funnel strategy that targets students in the entire funnel from prospective to enrolled. Use new and existing tools such as the Haas UG website, Slack, emails, newsletters, town halls to enhance the student experience. Be a catalyst for cultural change on campus pertaining to student experience.
Develop, manage and co-teach a lower division seminar series that focuses on academic success, orientating to Haas and business fundamentals, career exploration and development.
Analyzes the consequences of departmental / school / college academic policies and recommends new or changed policies.
Advises chairs / deans on the formulation of department policy by advising them on areas needing clarification and identifying solutions.
Based upon review of course evaluations and trends in the field, advises chair / dean and faculty on curriculum development and modification. Utilizing advanced expertise of course content, facilitates new course approval through interaction with the Coordination of College Policy, Academic Senate, or similar organization.
Analyzes UCB and Haas policies and practices which impact the Undergraduate Program and develop recommendations for implementation.

- Engages in ongoing education to promote diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging by completing University sponsored certifications & training sessions (Ie: MEP Workshop, Implicit Bias Certification, LinkedIn Learning workshops, and other workshops & seminars offered by the University or Haas, as they are made available) or by engaging in external seminars & resources related to DEIB.
- Exemplifies Haas' four Defining Leadership Principles: (1) Question the status quo; (2) Confidence without attitude; (3) Students always; and (4) Beyond yourself.
Required Qualifications
- Strong skills in analyzing and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals.
- Strong problem identification, problem framing & reasoning, skills to develop original ideas and solve problems through persuasion and leadership.
- Flexibility and initiative in seeking service improvements and procedural efficiency.
- Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
- Skills in judgment and decision-making and project management.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Experience in survey creation and analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff; both verbally and in writing. Includes demonstrated effectiveness in public speaking.
- Ability to create and share accessible, impactful resources that support academic success.
- Utilizing advanced expertise of course content, facilitates new course approval through interaction with the Coordination of College Policy, Academic Senate, or similar organization.
Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.- Exemplifies Haas' four Defining Leadership Principles: (1) Question the status quo; (2) Confidence without attitude; (3) Students always; and (4) Beyond yourself. Education and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of department / college / school precedents and application of policy.
- Thorough knowledge of college / school policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Experience in creating and teaching academic seminars to college students.
- Knowledge of competitive industry (top undergraduate programs).
Salary & Benefits
This is a 100% Career, exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience up to $100,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 a year.
