The Center will provide new energy for these activities and help build an entrepreneurial culture on campus. The COB offers a 3-course certificate program as well as a six- course âœminorâ field of study in entrepreneurship, open to all majors. The Center director, with assistance of a program assistant is expected to substantially enhance the public profile of the Center, engage real-world accomplished entrepreneurs, including alumnus, who are passionate about mentoring young entrepreneurs. The deanâ™s vision is to formalize the official status of the Center, create and get approval for a cutting-edge curriculum in entrepreneurship [modelled after the Wolfe Center at UH, or the Honors program at PVAMU], which includes field trips, special projects such as starting your own business, and experiential learning, uplift the center with programs such as business plan competitions, hackathons, and elevator pitch contests, and preparing students for national contests, so that students across the campus with an entrepreneurial mindset are attracted to the program. Once operational, take some of these programs to the national level (HBCU students, or high school students). The COB hosts a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and is hiring new faculty on tenure-track to offer additional courses on entrepreneurship, adding to its existing faculty expertise in this area. If interested, the director can occasionally teach a course on entrepreneurship, as an adjunct faculty, provided the department heads determines their academic background to be a good fit. To teach as a faculty of practice, corporate experience as well as past teaching experience is important.
This position is funded by a five-year Title III grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
