La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor to serve as Director of its COAMFTE-accredited Marriage and Family Therapy Master’s Program.
This position includes a full-time, 12-month administrative contract for leading the program year-round in addition to a 9-month non-tenure-track faculty contract. Some remote work will be possible. The successful applicant will teach a total of 4 classes during the year (NOT per semester) which can be spread across Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Summer courses in excess of the required four courses per year will be paid as an overload. The expected start date is August 2023.
The successful applicant must possess at least a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field. They must also be a licensed or license-eligible Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Pennsylvania; an Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) or achieve Approved Supervisor status within 3 years; be clinically active; and will have administrative experience, strong organizational and leadership skills, and experience teaching therapists-in-training.

The MFT program at La Salle has a long and deep history of being a leader in MFT clinical training since 1979. It prepares a diverse student body for licensure as marriage and family therapists (LMFT) in Pennsylvania and most other states and for employment in many professional settings. It is a 60-credit degree that is accredited by COAMFTE, and entails a flexible curriculum of conceptual and skills courses designed for the working professional. Essential Duties:
Strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of the master’s program.
Ensuring compliance with COAMFTE accreditation requirements and serving as COAMFTE liaison.
Oversight of personnel and faculty associated with the master’s program.
Oversight of program marketing, admissions, student evaluation, curriculum, and program development.
Acting as liaison with University administration.
Coordinating shared resources with Director of CACREP-accredited Professional Clinical Counseling (PCC) Master’s Program.
Teaching four courses per year (NOT per semester) as a core faculty member in the master’s program with opportunity to teach additional courses during the Summer as an overload.
Remaining clinically active.
Required Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a related field.
Licensed or license-eligible as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Pennsylvania.
An Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) or Approved Supervisor status within 3 years.
Leadership, program coordination, and/or other administrative experience, preferably of a Marriage and Family Therapy or similar program.
Strong record of teaching, preferably marriage and family therapists or similar in training.
Identification with the profession through professional memberships, scholarly activity, or professional service.
Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a master’s, doctoral, or post-graduate COAMFTE-accredited program.
Experience with oversight of a COAMFTE-accredited program and/or the initial accreditation or re-accreditation process.
Commitment to experientially based clinical education.
A record of social advocacy and/or demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and social justice initiatives.
Evidence of scholarly activity (e.g., presentations and/or publications)
Additional Requirements of the Position
Evening hours will be required, since the MA Program courses run 4:30-7pm & 7:30-10pm in the Fall/Spring and 6-9:30pm in the Summer.
Some remote work will be possible
Other MA Program activities (e.g., Orientation, Diversity Forum) are also held on weekday evenings.
