The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs provides leadership in the areas of program assessment and review; works collaboratively with academic units to facilitate new program development and manage the course and curriculum approval process; evaluates and updates academic policies and processes; reviews all academic requests for changes to the academic record of graduate students, supports graduate faculty success; oversees processes related to graduate student academic standing, resolves graduate student issues and concerns, manages standard academic procedures i.e., submission of the plan of study, a change of program, thesis or dissertation committee formation, grade changes/appeals, and supports the dean in other areas of relevance to graduate education. The associate dean represents the Graduate College on university councils and committees and serves as a conduit of communication between the Graduate College and various constituents across the University.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
This unit advances the university's vision, mission and strategic plan in relation to graduate research, scholarship, graduate studies and creative activity; works closely with the Senior Vice Provost and the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development; works with the faculty, Deans, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and the Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence to elevate and expand research and scholarship, including the scholarship of discovery, integration, and application and graduate student research; provides oversight for the graduate college, including recruitment initiatives, curricular initiatives, program assessment, budget and funding allocations, and supervision of staff; works with the Academic Deans, University Relations and the Graduate Council to advance and elevate graduate programs; assists with providing leadership for meeting enrollment goals of the strategic plan for graduate education; implements and administers policies and regulations affecting graduate students, including oversight of student requests, complaints and grievances; assist with efforts to facilitate a positive campus culture; assists the Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness with accreditation; and represents the Provost's office as requested.

Requirements:
Terminal degree in academic field
Minimum of five years of administrative experience in higher education
Associate or professor rank at a higher education institution and qualification for graduate faculty status
Strong supervisory, training and presentation skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including travel as necessary.
Experience working with student information systems, such as Banner, as well as strong computer literacy and familiarity and comfort with spreadsheets and databases.
Strong customer service/student service skills in a fast-paced, changing environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Admission Pros or Slate, and social media platforms.
Strong analytical skills, oral and written communication skills, and project management skills
