The Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a sociology position at the rank of Adjunct Instructor within the Division of Social Sciences. The Division seeks candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching, professional development, and service to the University. Â This appointment begins Fall 2022.Â
Responsibilities:
Teach one or more undergraduate and/or graduate sociology courses, particularly those required in the University Core area and including those particular to the candidateâ™s area of expertise.
Provide committee service to the division, the college and the university;
Engage in professional development activities, including serving in roles that advance the candidateâ™s standing with professional organizations and with the community at large;
Keep records, post grades (mid-term & final), submit attendance reporting, and mentor/advise students.
Attend University-sponsored activities, such as general student assembly, student recruitment fairs, graduation convocations, and the like.
Perform other duties as assigned by division head.

 Required Education & Experience:
 Masterâ™s in sociology or a closely related  field from an accredited institution
 More than one year of experience teaching sociology courses at the college level.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Admissions functions of higher education.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to teach online courses, using the various modes of delivery that the university requires.
