Summary of the Position
MCS seeks an Upper School Resource Teacher interested in child development and how children learn to support the 5th through 8th grades. We are looking for someone with a particular interest in and ability to teach math. This role will focus on supporting the 7th and 8th grades this year.
The role of the resource teacher includes the following:
- support Upper School teachers in the classroom, especially during whole group classes
- may collaborate with the 7th and 8th grade math teacher to teach 2-3 math classes a week
- work with children one-on-one to provide academic support in all subjects
- collaborate with MCS Support Team to support students with learning accommodations
- help teachers with grading student work
- teach electives
- substitute as needed
- support special projects such as the MLK book award, 6th grade MLK presentation, and 7th/8th grade activism project
- may go on 1-2 Farm trips a year
- help with arrival, snack, lunch duty, park time, and dismissal
- assist the program team with administrative tasks
The Upper School Resource Teacher is a one or two-year position designed for an educator looking to grow and learn more about middle school education. Ideal candidates will be flexible, take initiative, be collaborative, have high expectations for all students, be comfortable with technology, demonstrate strong listening and communication skills, have experience working in a diverse community and with middle school students, and be open to learning.
A Bachelor's degree is required; experience with teaching and with supporting students with diverse learning styles is preferred.
This position is covered under the LOC2110 collective bargaining agreement with a salary range of $55,224 - $89,107 annually.
