World History and Cultures Librarian
Collection Development and Management Program
The University of California San Diego Library seeks applications from highly motivated, innovative, collaborative, flexible and service-oriented professionals to join the Library as the World History and Cultures Librarian (Assistant, Associate or Full Librarian). This position reports within the Library's Collection Development and Management Program.
Responsibilities of the Position
The World History and Cultures Librarian works to build and manage collections, as well as provide liaison services such as outreach, instruction, reference, and research advisory for assigned areas within the Department of History, Department of Literature, and the Institute of Arts and Humanities.
-Department of History, excluding US, East Asia and Latin America history areas.
-Institute of Arts and Humanities, including European Studies, Classical Studies, Middle East Studies, Black Diaspora and African American Studies, German Studies, Italian Studies, and Russian and Eastern European Studies.
-Department of Literature, specifically European languages and translations and other World Literatures as assigned.

CDM plays a critical role in supporting the cycle of knowledge through ongoing stewardship of the products of research, identifying strategies and innovative techniques to obtain desired information resources, and monitoring advances in and to be an active partner in shared collection and Open Access initiatives.
