Penfield Library is a dynamic, innovative, and learning-centered environment serving students, faculty, and staff at SUNY Oswego. The Library supports campus curriculum, teaching, and research, with a liaison program that provides information literacy instruction, specialized reference, and collection development in all curricular areas. The Library is an active participant in shared SUNY libraries-wide initiatives. The Library is in a time of change, magnified by the recent pandemic: assessing services, reexamining our organizational structure, exploring new ways of engaging with faculty and new campus partnerships, and planning for future building renovations. Penfield Library at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty Digital Collections Librarian.

Description of Responsibilities:
The Digital Collections* Librarian (Senior Assistant Librarian) will manage the institutional repository, create and implement digitization projects of items from Archives and Special Collections, and lead in the development of strategy and solutions for handling born-digital materials created by SUNY Oswego faculty, staff, and students. They will:
- Collaborate with the College Archivist librarian to provide leadership and supervision of the Archives & Special Collections unit, including strategic planning.
- Develop, document and manage procedures for the arrangement, description, preservation, development, digitization, and accessibility of the digital collections. This will also include gathering statistics on collection use and scholarship resulting from the use of the digital collections.
- Provide on-site and virtual research assistance to patrons, with a focus on Archives and Special Collections, including some evening and weekend shifts.
- Provide instruction, including on the Archives and Special Collections.
- Promote awareness and use of digital collections through virtual exhibits, presentations, articles, social media, local media, and other outlets.
- Build and maintain relationships with campus offices and departments (e.g. Alumni Development, Student Association, History department) to promote awareness of digital collections.
- Administer the college's institutional repository.
- Serve as liaison to assigned academic departments, with responsibility for subject specialized collection development and instruction.
- Engage in educational opportunities and work to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
- Oversee interns and volunteers.
- May supervise students or staff.
In addition, this position will be expected to demonstrate the potential for excellence in librarianship, scholarship, and service; commitment to undergraduate and graduate education; and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Librarianship/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program (by time of appointment).
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively adapt to and use new technologies and software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices, procedures, and technologies regarding digital curation.
- Demonstrated experience with processing, accessioning, and digitizing of materials.
- Demonstrated interest or engagement with social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion issues, through professional or community experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using PastPerfect, LibGuides, ContentDM Project Client
- Experience with born-digital collections
- Experience supervising staff and student employees
- Experience engaging in outreach initiatives that expand, improve, and promote library services.
- Experience with instruction, reference service, and/or collection development.
*Note that "Digital Collections" does not include ebooks or electronic subscription resources, which is handled by the Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian.
